INFORMATION

An English-language study of ethnic relations and demographic processes in the western Ukrainian lands within interwar Poland: the proportions of the Ukrainian, Polish, and Jewish populations, colonization policy, migrations. The text is supported by maps and statistical tables.

Volodymyr Kubijovyč (1900–1985) was a geographer and demographer and editor-in-chief of the Encyclopedia of Ukrainian Studies. His cartographic and statistical works long remained the main source of figures on the ethnic composition of the Ukrainian lands.

The brochure was published by the Chicago-based Ukrainian Research and Information Institute, one of the diaspora institutions that prepared English-language reference publications about Ukraine for the American academic and political community. The cover was designed by Petro Kholodnyi-ml. (1902–1990), a painter and graphic artist and son of Petro Kholodnyi.
