Kuleba. Aloe-Fox: from the repertoire of the revelers “Evgen”. [Lviv], [n.d.]

Kuleba. Aloe-Fox: from the repertoire of the Revelers “Evgen” / words and music by Kuleba.

[Lviv]: published by Anatolii Yamytskyi, [n.d.]. Price on cover: 75 sot.

Unbound edition: cream-colored paper cover printed in black ink. Constructivist design — a geometric frame with the line “From the repertoire of the Revelers Evgen” in a stylized font, the title in a triangle in the center, a large price figure on the right, and a graphic mark in a circle on the left. The triangle’s outline, the shadows of the title letters, and the word “sot.” near the price are highlighted in green by hand. On the reverse — the second and third stanzas, printed in a handwritten font, an advertisement for the “Aloe” factory, a list of repertoire, and a publication notice. The paper is clean, with a light patina; several small dots and light spots at the top, slightly worn edges, and a small tear on the left edge of the reverse. The text and illustration are fully legible. Condition: very good.

The artistic value lies in the geometric design of the cover; the edition is of interest to collectors as an example of Lviv entertainment repertoire and advertising.

INFORMATION

Aloe-Fox — a promotional song for the Lviv chemical-cosmetic factory “Aloe”: the words and music were written by Kuleba, and on the cover it is presented as a number from the repertoire of the Revelers “Evgen.” The verses humorously link the crisis with everyday troubles and recommend “Aloe” to everyone — from bachelors and young ladies to mothers-in-law and sons-in-law.

On the reverse, a factory announcement is printed (“Aloe,” Lviv, 16 Henin Street, tel. 6-24) with a list of products: powders, dry day cream in tubes, thick cream in jars, white toothpaste and tooth powder, shampoos, and petroleum jelly in tubes. Below — three other songs from the same repertoire: O. Kurochko “Why?” (tango song), Yu. Kozak — Ye. Kozak “Miro” (tango), and “Lviv Girls” (foxtrot). Published by Anatolii Yamytskyi.

Another version of this edition — with an Art Deco-style cover, without the price and publisher on the cover — is offered as a separate lot.
