INFORMATION
The issue responds to Leonid Brezhnev's visit to the United States, which took place in June 1973 — the peak of the policy of détente and negotiations with Richard Nixon. Kozak frames the event within the American television game show "What's My Line?", where guests were invited to guess the profession of the guest: the question of who the high visitor really is here remains unanswered. Criticism of Western concessions to Moscow was one of the magazine's recurring themes.
Edward Kozak (1902–1992), known by the signature "EKO", — caricaturist, painter, writer, and publisher. Studied at the Oleks Novakovsky art school in Lviv, in the 1930s edited the satirical magazines "Zyz" and "Komar" and illustrated the publications of Ivan Tychter. From 1951, he lived in Detroit, where he himself drew, edited, and published "Lys Mykyta".
The magazine was founded in Munich in the second half of the 1940s (sources give 1946 and 1948), in New York in the 1950–1951 years, it was published as "Lys", and from 1951 to 1991 — in Detroit; the "publication year" mark is counted from the Detroit series.
