INFORMATION

“Letters to Friends” was a journal of the Ukrainian Institute of Publicistics and Science, edited by the philosopher and publicist Mykola Shlemkevych, author of “The Lost Ukrainian Person.” This issue contains Ostap Tarnavsky’s article “Maxym Rylsky — Humanist Poet,” Shlemkevych’s own polemic “To Unite the Earth with Heaven in One…,” essays by D. Kozyi, T. Olesiuk, and V. Dorosh on Shevchenko, Stalin, and Pushkin, literary notes by Yurii Dyvnych, and Vadym Lesych’s exhibition reviews.

The journal’s covers over the years were designed by Zenon Holubets—reproductions of them appear on the back cover. The copy with the editor’s Christmas autograph links this issue with one of the key figures of diasporic thought.
