INFORMATION
An internal journal of a Plast educational branch, produced by the women educators themselves: typed, reproduced on a rotary press, with drawings and headings added by hand. The contents reveal the life of Plast work in the diaspora—from sketches of Symon Petliura, the Sich Riflemen, and Yevhen Konovalets to instructions on leading a troop, organizing a campfire, running a camp, and keeping children entertained at Christmas; separate sections are devoted to songs, games, amusements, crafts, and riddles.
The “Eagle Circle” and the “N” Branch of the Women’s Cadre were Plast centers in the USA that trained women educators to work with younger children. Issue 24, published in 1962, marked the 50th anniversary of Ukrainian Plast and features a jubilee cover with the dates 1912–1962.
Cyclostyled publications of this type were printed in dozens of copies for the internal use of a single organization; they did not enter libraries and have almost entirely disappeared; six issues together are a rarity. The stamp of the Plast Stanytsia in Elizabeth attests to the set’s use within a specific center.
